I ran a timedemo on an etmain demo of a pub on Oasis, without any significant config differences.

etmain: 54.0 fps
etpro 2.0.7: 54.9 fps
etpro 3.0.1: 53.9 fps

In my opinion, the difference is insignificant. Probably due to software running in the background.

The mistake he made was confusing "source available" with "open source"/"GPL". As a matter of fact, the license under which you are allowed to view/modify/redistribute the ET game source is incompatible with the GPL, as is the license under which Quake3's game source is...

They would also have a central failing point. Edit: Meaning you'd have to have the proper config on the server anyway (in case the connection failed for whatever reason or the central server went down, or the main config was "corrupted") so it might be a little redundant. But barring failu...

Client is using the 44.03 Detonators ( because newer ones crashed on PB servers )
You ought to try again. A while ago there was a PB patch that claimed to fix the crashing with newer Nvidia drivers, and it worked perfectly for me. :)
