My comment about high ping/low FPS always being a disadvantage was in the overall sense. Yes, sometimes a high ping or a big spike can work in your favor, but on average it will always be better to have a good connection and FPS. I agree entirely. I was only pointing out that it isn't true that hig...

Not if they didn't know you were there (e.g. you are shooting them in the back, or from a long way away). That's got NOTHING to do with your high ping though  Yes it does. Your client shows them in position X. You shoot them several times. They feel the first hit, move to dodge, but still get...

It's not always a disadvantage. For example, if you have high ping and you are shooting a stationary player then you can shoot them several times before they even know they are being shot. They could even die without ever knowing they were being attacked. Yes and no. You say that, but then you don'...

It should be blindingly obvious that longer delays and less smooth movment will always be a disadvantage. It's not always a disadvantage. For example, if you have high ping and you are shooting a stationary player then you can shoot them several times before they even know they are being shot. They...

etpro anti cheat is senceable already :!: No, making the only difference between "<player> is definitely an evil cheating git" and "<player> might be an evil cheating git, or more probably is completely innocent and not cheating at all" a difference of colour is not sensible. Ma...

I get this all the time too. PunkBuster is just getting worse and worse all the time. I hope bani makes etpro anti-cheat sensible soon and then everyone can disable PunkBuster on the servers.

Nope, shrubbot for etpro is exactly what it is :-D

I think it's a great idea. Is it the first/only thing to use this method (external process tailing logfile and sending in rcon commands)?

What on earth are you talking about? I didn't compare anything to anything, and I wasn't talking about any etpro feature.

Which Windows tries its damn hardest to force you to do... and anyway if you're not it can "only" delete all your documents, steal all your web passwords, spy on everything you do, send rude messages to your boss, and make demons fly out of your nose...

Also, from a security standpoint I'm vehemently opposed to any program that lets an external party change anything on my system without my express permission. Well yer screwed there since any ET server you connect to can take over your computer and wipe your hard-drive etc without asking (unless yo...

No, he really shouldn't do that. That does exactly the same as 'sv_maxrate 10000' except that it interferes with the user's settings and will screw them up if they have a modem. He could use sv_cvar for cl_maxpackets but I don't see how it helps.
