Gah. I don't think there was, but I'm not sure. I'll start her up again and hope it will crash again.zinx wrote:If there was output about malloc/free above this, it would be incredibly useful.

Okay, I ran the server with MALLOC_CHECK_=2 and it crashed after about 2 hours, at the end of an intermission interval (time till next map = 0). I'm afraid that I've got some server crashes to report as well. Server running on Linux (well, FreeBSD with Linux compatibility, actually). Crashed after 40 minues on sw_goldrush_te with 2-4 players and again after about 50 minutes on various maps with 6-10 players (last map Battery). Due to the joy...

Well, the method I described is the right way (and possible the only way) to find out what the problem is. By the way, I connected to your server when it was empy, and saw no problems at all. This tells me that the problem is related to the system load. You should therefore run the test when you've ...

N.B. Has anyone else noticed a HUGE decline in the amount of people playing ET since 2.60 was released? No. All Seeing Eye reports 10000 to 11000 ET players at peak times; same numbers as before the patch was released. By the way, I don't really understand all these desperate pleas for a new ET Pro...

It is very unlikely that a problem like this is caused by the ET configuration. Most likely it is caused by an errant process running on the server, or maybe by one of the other game processes. I'd suggest you SSH/Telnet to the server and run top , whilst running your ET client in a window with the ...

As a clarification, I'd like to add that the examples I mentioned in my post are just that: examples . Obviously they're not all bad, nor should everything I referred to be removed. They were just added to illustrate my point: quality is not only attained by adding stuff, but sometimes also by clean...

A plea: reduce the bloat and simplify ET Pro
I'm writing this post as a counterbalance to all the feature requests that keep appearing on this forum. While I understand the pressure the developers are under to keep adding features to ET Pro, it might be wise to stop for a moment and consider the way we're heading. At the moment I'm working on ...

Re: Illegal scanning of files
No EULA or other agreement informed me of ETPro's scannings, I definetely wouldn't have installed this software if I had known of scannings. It's not ETPro but PunkBuster, and yes you were informed: SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT The terms of this Software License Agreement (this "Agreement")...

Well, okay, forget about Microsoft, but the point I'm trying to make remains. An external entity changing configs without having an option to approve or reject those changes. Note that I have no problems whatsoever with using this feature for leagues and tournaments, etcetera. Those server configs a...

Well, let's try something better: give us an option to disable this cvar changing feature altogether on the client. Since it's been introduced I've seen server admins trying to change my client rate, antilag setting, announcer setting, gamma setting and tons of other stuff in a most annoying way. Al...
