"ping advantage" isnt even half of it: ping at 200 is shit to play. just because the other players are at ping 200 isnt going to make it any better.

just play in a server in the middle, i cant think of any situation where that isnt better than both teams having the wost-case scenario ping.

certainly seems a good idea to have "core hubs", to balance the load both on the matchserver and the hubs. E.g. for Quakecon maybe a hub per continent (two or three for EU and NA?). I'd certainly expect Quakecon to draw more than the EC final, and every single slot of those 18 ETTV servers...

players can count it anyway, or use an external spawntimer that cant be restricted. ETPro's timer just levels the field by ensuring everyone has easy access to one. play on a server in the middle, or play half in one country half in the other. Simulating lag for home teams seems like just going for the worst possible situation in the name of fairness.

hmm?If I recall,neither osp or banimod was dominant within rtcw.(key word being dominant here) OSP was highly dominant in RTCW, with shrub following up the rear. I personally have no use for !fling, !lol, or any of the assinine crap that "fun" mods have, those mods are always wanted by immature server admins to dick people around just something interesting noticed on this topic: ETPub added a cvar (g_tyranny) to lock out the worst crap for abusing...

apparently it was literally necessary to break listen server, so it sucks but had to be done. Wether or not they could put in some kind of testmode which disables the problematic things is another question, but how much use would it be to test something with such stuff disabled, and is it worth all ...

hmm, check you've referenced it correctly - usual convention is the have the campaign names with cmpgn_ prefix.

Agree with the previous 2 posts: popup should offer to redirect or wait. Very useful for ETTV, not interested otherwise.
