what do you think of new spy?

personaly, i dont like the weakened knife, and i think that the spy was already good and it dosnt need a smg. :? even though i have cable, my ping is around 200-300 and hitting someone with a knife can already be difficult sometimes. i would not be able to do it twice. :(


maybe we could have both, but the spy would be easier to kill. does that sound good?

Let's face it. The old Spy with a poisonknife should've really been named guy running around with a knife slaughtering the spawn point.

I like the new spy because it enforces sneakyness now. You've actually gotta be able to plan your attack to get the machine gun with a decent amount of ammo in it. It now prevents noob Spy abuse too.

If only there was a way to prevent noob CO abuse. :)

so how does this SMG thing work anyway? I killed some dude and walked over his thompson... nothing. I hit "P" hoping I'd drop my weapon and pick his up, but it wasn't to be. I lost all of my grenades and didnt pick up the gun.

and I walked over a dead teammate and I heard the "picking up gun or ammo sound" and saw "MP40" in the lower left, but I didnt get it somehow.

with spawn protection how does the spy run around spawnpoints killing people... i hate trying to capture the bunker and suddenly invincible people with automatic weapons start staring at me like a hunter looking at bambi... sometimes playing dead works, but not too often

what if we solve this the way bani sometimes does by creating g_spysmg for admins? the admins would just put a one, a zero, or a two. 1 = the spy can pick up smgs. 0 = the spy gets the insta-gib knife. 2 = spy gets both but it is easier to kill.

or maybe we could have \spysmg for players? the players could just put the corresponding number (0, 1, 2) after the command to chose what they want, or instead they could just retype it without numbers to toggle between the three.

I just played the new spy, and i like what bani's done with it. i think it is just as powerful as the old one. By giving up kill with one stab, for kill with one or two at the most, you can change tactics when the game calls for it, and become almost as good as a soldier with an smg. (and a badass knife).
