Public server custom map loading problems
I've tried running a 8-10 campaign serveral times but every time players have trouble connecting. I've redirected the download to the maps which works fine (nice high speed download) but after the download finishes they often get 999 and disconnect. Reconnecting works in some cases but most of the times players just leave (as I would).
The standard maps in the campaign do not give any trouble at all. As soon as a custom map is loading the server empties. I also notice that pings seems to rise on a custom map, not sure if I'm being paranoid or if this is normal.
Is this known behavior or is something wrong with my setup? My standard 6 maps run fine (serverl is well visited) but they get boring after playing over and over again
Regards

I've seen some other posts here that say it's known behavior. Same thing happens on my server, usually after a redirect download. A /reconnect always seems to allow a normal reconnection.
Also, if you change the password, then /reconnect, I always get an invalid .pk3 error. I have to quit the game and restart. I'll bet these are ET errors and not etpro issues.

That's normal, there wasn't / isn't a business case to make the investment (manhours). It's a free game which 'cost' them already a lot of money because they can't earn back the investment made in ET. Economic reality strikes here I'm afraid .gotenks wrote:bani has the source code and sent them info for many fixes... and they haven't released one
On the other hand, with RTCW2 on the way Activision could make a smart move by taking into account Bani's work and releasing an update for ET which they could use to pimp RTCW2 in a subtle manner and create more awareness and highten the anticipation to the game. Fix the bugs & port it to Mac, include only a few little things that you will see in RTCW2 and you can get consumers hot about this future release already.
But hey, that's just the marketing man in me speaking now...
Our servers now run on 64 bit steroids. Point your ET to:

- Fraggle Rock ETPub Server - Mix up ET/UT & Duke Nukem
