Problems with PB

Post by Badhabit »

Anyone else having problems with PB kicking everyone today?
1st your kicked for "General PB Client Authentication Failure "
then your kicked for "Losing Key Packets"

This problem just started today, and in less then 10 mins time 10+ players had this happen. :?:
{Zer0}'s House of Torment 67.19.67.118:27960
{Zer0}'s RTCW server 67.19.67.119:27960
Now Lets Go Kick Some ASS
And thats an Order.

I've been hearing and seeing a lot of this since the PB update came out. A clan we scrim with a lot actually had to postpone a match because it kept booting everyone with that "Losing Key Packets" error.

GGs PunkBuster -- let's just improve ETPro anti-cheat to the point where we don't need it anymore.

Looks like PB didn't test there latest version.
It also likes to crash servers.
I had both my ET servers crash twice tonight because of it.
Only fix that works is to turn PB off.

Note to Bani= Get all the bugs worked out of your anticheat system ASAP so we can dump PB for good 8)

Version 1.082 of the PB Client for ET has been released to our PB Master Servers for auto-update and to our website download page.

Release Notes for PB Client v1.069:

fixes bug with v1.081 released earlier today that was causing players to get kicked
starting with this version 1.082, Win32 versions of PB now require the game to be run as the administrator user or equivalent

 Thats a bunch of BS.
If PB is going that route, I don't think it will last very long, even if this is for clients only.

Note: I just sent them an Email asking who the IDIOT was that came up with this idea. Admin rights for an online game

Oh that is fucking brilliant. Allow a program which automatically downloads and runs native binaries full access to your system.

Absolutely fucking brilliant.

edit:
Everyone who understand why this is a bad idea should write them.

I really hope this is sort of a stupid joke from a drunk pb developer and will be changed ASAP. Or else I won't play on PB servers anymore and also disable PB on our servers. There is no excuse for doing such crap like forcing a game to run with admin privileges. I never thought the PB staff would be that stupid...

Yes. But if bani implements dupname and badname kicking into etpro, PB wouldn't be needed at all.
