Would the way ET requests the download be considered FXP? I'm using Filezilla which has a type of FXP prevention by default. I just unchecked that "feature". Perhaps that was it?

ET 2.60/2.60b uses libcurl to download files. If your FTP server is disallowing libcurl, there's probably something wrong with it.
Zinx Verituse http://zinx.xmms.org/
Well, I am using Filezilla FTP Server? To the best of my knowledge that supports cURL.
I am able to successfully connect and download from the server from a Firefox browser while outside of my LAN. The problem seems to be some kind of failed interaction between ET and Filezilla, but I don't know what to check next.
Any advice?

+set dedicated 2
and add some et master servers to server.cfg
you have this in your cfg already.
Oh, and make sure that these master servers retrieve the heartbeat and are not blocked by your servers firewall
and add some et master servers to server.cfg
Code: Select all
// MASTER SERVERS TO REPORT TO
set sv_master1 "etmaster.idsoftware.com"
set sv_master2 "master.gamespy.com:27900"
set sv_master3 "master0.gamespy.com"
set sv_master4 "clanservers.net"

Good news
The redirect worked this time.
Bad News
The speed was only 20KB/sec
instead of using http://xxx.xxx.xxx etc , try using the url ie http://www.yoursite.whatever/files/etmain, don't know if it would make a difference i'm not a comp/internet techie, but it's worth a try.
On a brighter note my ping was only 320 this time, 100 better , and while i was in there someone was trying to join, they tried 4 times but kept disconnecting, don't know what trouble they were having (maybe wrong ET version), but it couldn't have been because of the downloads because goldrush was playing at the time.
