I just changed mine and i know that bani is right (as always ). The email address I had w/ yahoo that I registered on here with I've had for almost 6 years and until last year I've never had a problem. I started getting porn emails etc and I even had 2 that were infected. I emailed yahoo about it and they said there was nothing they could do because they said the email didn't originate from their servers.
Asses wouldn't even put a ban on the IP.

Yeah. Just create a new email account for these forums. Nobody said you couldn't keep your yahoo one.Defiant wrote:I guess goodbye guys... no more posting for me...
Of course, until I get a new E-mail provider, but Yahoo is fine for me.

Unless Bani disables the accounts (which he hasn't said directly) you will still be able to post, although email notifications will stop working.

I've found that using Outlook / Outlook Express can cause more spam, so I stopped using them.
Also a good alternative to Hotmail and Yahoo is Mailblocks.com
They have quite an intelligent e-mail system that utilizes trackers as well as a standard e-mail address. Also all e-mails not in ur contact list will immediately be delivered a support follow-up mail. The follow-up mail needs to have a verification link to prove the sender is human. Since most spam is computer-generated, this blocks a lot of spam. Also you can choose to permanantly block e-mail addresses. At most, you will only recieve one spam-mail from a computer-server and probably never any more.
They have a free account with 5mb. I have been using it for a while and haven't gotten 1 spam mail. I got 2 letters when I joined from the mailblocks.com staff and 2 from microsoft.com (because I requested it).

I use both yahoo and hotmail for maybe 10 years and am yet to receive my first spam mail (besides the occasional yahoo & hotmail message). Except for one account which I use for all the shit that causes spam.
I was going to write a lengthy post with all the reasons for NOT TO USE OUTLOOK but since this is not the place for it, I'll just conclude:
Don't use outlook.

I won't use outlook simply because it's so f'ing exploitable, gg loading a program and having no choice but opening the "preview" of an email so it can infect your computer.
Another thing to keep in mind is some spam comes simply from having an existing email addy without anyone "selling" it as they have autodialer type programs that will just run through " jinks@domain.com jinks1@domain.com etc etc etc "

I never had a problem with hotmail until msn bought them and then literally the day of I got over 100 spam mails and continued to get that many even after turning on all the blocks including only send mail to me if you are a contact. Hotmail would make hte person a temporary contact just so they could spam my account then turn it off. When I emailed the staff about it they lied. Moral of this story: You got an email account for free what did you expect? Good service? HAH.
