etded vs ettv

Post by codeur »

Bani

Did you optimize things in the ettv.x86 binary ? I would like to know if it was better to use ettv.x86 or the normal etded.x86 ?
I saw in the forum you improve the cpu management in ettv.x86, is that right ?

Thx in advance.

yes, the optimizations should work for normal gameservers as well. it would be nice if it got tested.

I thought running a gameserver with ettv.x86 just in turn called etded.x86, like a wrapper? :?

( I've always started my servers with ettv.86 - just in case I need ettv sometime )

Or does ettv.86 actually completely replace the functionality of etded.x86?

Ok bani, I'll test for you. All my servers are running ettv.x86 and it seems to work fine. The CPU consomption does not seems to be greatly improved but I need to look further.

After having some testruns with this I can say that average CPU consumption went down from 25% to 18% on a full 24 slot server PIV 2.4 GHz. That's an ETPub server by the way ;). So that answers the question that ettv.x86 accepts other mods as well.
Our servers now run on 64 bit steroids. Point your ET to:
- Forgotten Ground StopWatch Server with occasional wolfrof 1
- Fraggle Rock ETPub Server - Mix up ET/UT & Duke Nukem
