Interesting shove/pilot quirk...

In version 1.1.51, I was playing on =SWAT=Goldrush. There was a door blocker (what's new), and I shoved him out of the way. He took off flying (pilot) and then dropped from the air. He splatted on the ground and it said I T/Ked him.
I know if you shove someone off a cliff this is supposed to happen, but all I did was shove him from the door. He just took off on his own free will and dropped to the ground.
Is there a way to clear the variable that contains last person who shoved a pilot if he starts to fly on his own?
