pilots aren't bad as long as they don't disable an objective... eg beach... i think depot would be a good map to use because there are no objectives that pilot is a major advantage too... otherthan the midpoint capture but blowing the gate has other advantages...

can a pilot be an eng? ( I don't know, cause I always play on servers where it's disabled)

If so, then it's too big an advantage. If not, i see no problem with it.

No, pilot can't be an engineer. Actually I've been playing GoatCheese's server quite a bit lately which has pilot enabled. You should all check it out. It adds a dimension to the game that is interesting (even on beach). As an axis, you have to adjust your defense to cover pilot activity along with the regular dyno-point camping.

One of the possibilities of this league, or ladder, which one matters not, is a pre-ordained guideline. If the two opposing teams want specific classes disabled, or enabled, it could happen. One of the things we need to consider is how much of an advantage, or disadvantage using the special classes is. I don't like jetpacks myself (I always blow myself up). but they are kind of neat. I also don't think they are that hard to adjust too. If you are concious of the fact they are enabled, then the adjustment can be made. If it's a league play, the challenged team should have the right to make that decision, just a thought, your input would be important.

while I agree that jetpacks may be fun, I think they take too much skill & strategy out of the game.

On beach for instance : If you can just fly over the wall & up to the top level, or up the stairs, it takes out the skill of getting a plant, advancing forward & carrying the objective.

On Axis complex all you really have to do is "go long" and fly around outside till you are clear to get to the comm. room.

I will play with pilots if that's what everyone else wants, but here's my 2¢

well usely pilots are not as overpowering as ppl think caz they cna fly yes but

shooting out of air is not accurycy
you explode if you fly to far
they can seee you comming from a long distance
you get i ammmo round
the ground is hard :wink:

so realy pilots is a skill type by its self

don't forget if they shoot you while your flying you can explode & you can't drop your weapon
however on maps like beach... run up to the wall and just jump over it... very little cloud will apear and you can get the bunker just intime for spawn and have your whole team /kill before spawn and they're in... so on maps like beach i say no... axis complex they don't really give much of an advantage, but they do give some... depot they don't give much at all

except that you could attack from the roof which would defeats the "blowing of the door"

yes but before the door is blown people usually post snipers, stens or panzers on the roof to take out oncoming enemies... and there is no spawn through that way other than normal axis spawn... however me and zf tested a trick to actually use pilot to boost people over the wall so this can be comprimised but i'm sure as long as it takes to do and as dangerous as it is they won't use it much
