Spies

Can we get a run down on the current spy, commands and abilities. It has changed so much lately and i cant find the details.

Well, what I know:

/spy To become spy.
/special1 To turn change into the enemys clothes.
/special2 Spot enemies.


Then there is a few more things, But I play instagib mostly, so someone else can fill you in on the rest.

Yeah i know those :D

Ive played today on oldcrow and apparently the spies are back to the original worthless state :(

they had poisin gas nades... very too powerfull
they had concussion nades... needed tweaking but too many complaints
they had concussion guns... too powerful again

and now? SMG and normal knife, plus the disguise ability.

I've also heard they walk silently, but I haven't noticed that, I can always hear my own footsteps as a spy

you can but they can't... ;) you'd have to be running a client side mod for you not to hear your own...
also they can spot mines for teammates

but wut use is a disqusise if you knive isnt any good use :? caz you gun makes you chance your clothes

Pretty useless. You are basically an enemy wounder. You run up, get a stab or two until they realize you are a spy and then they blast you with a machine gun. Machine gun vs knife is no match at all. You might get a few stupid people, but if you are playing anyone with a few brain cells you are gonna be way down the list.

Concussion grenades are not even close to too powerful, you have to deal with the time delay and they can still be overcome. Spy was some of some use.
The dizzy knife was a good idea, they had ample time to heal or be healed by a med and for once the spy was as powerful as say a medic or venom soldier..

There has to be something for them to do to stay within striking range of knife after the first hit. Its boring stabbing and enemy only to have him waste you with his machine gun and walk away to be finished off by someone else. Dropping weapons of enemy was very useful, that gave you some time at least to fight them, and they had a pistol till they could pick thier gun up.

I dont think spies should be marking mines, im almost possitive that is something better suited to a scout...who scouts ahead to notify of danger...

with 60 hp damage per stab it'd only take 2 stabs to kill someone with knife.
i liked the concussion nades personally, but eh oh well...
the spy spots them because of the similar attribute of the ET Covert Ops being able to do it

2 stabs doesnt kill a med.

And i back stab sometimes...yeah its fine, but not always feasible and your proportional kills is not going to be anywhere near any other classes.

Ah well, i still play one for the novelty, when its crowded, stupid people are playing and my team doesnt need me for anything :D
