apple computers are not piece of shit gateway computers.
closet, thank you for putting words into my mouth. i NEVER said that dell, gateway, or compqs were better then the g5.
If you look at the rating carefully, its comparing the speed with how fast it can process final edit cut PRO, and photoshop 4 times faster than a pentium 4 thats where the real speed comes in. Do you do video editing? Have you ever sat and waited for a small piece of video to render out or waited for over a minute do some stupid filter in Photshop?


we're talking games. and notice i made mention, although sarcasticaly, that macs were better for video editing.

i want to make myself clear that i have never bought a "premade" system since an old packard bell back in like '96. i completly agree with you that dell, gateway and all the others are garbage.

you have yet to explain to me why a GAMER would spend the extra $ and buy a mac!!!! this is a GAMING forum for WOLFENSTEIN. not a final cut or photo shop forum.

Actually, NVIDIA has the best card currently. The GeForce FX 5900 beats the ATI RADEON 9800.

It's not worth arguing about Nvidia and ATI, as every month, the leading card goes to the other company.

well said, but i tend to lean more towards nvidia. however its just not something worth arguing over. the if you had 2 identical machines with an fx5900 and a 9800 pro with 256 mb you wouldnt be able to tell the difference.

also, the link you posted was for the "stock" 5900. i prefer MSIs version. it has dual active heatsinks that are much quitter then the original heatshink.

okay yes, nvidia cards are better... currently, but the price difference is more than it should be especially considering what lil difference there is between the two cards :roll:

and i haven't heard for sure yet, but i know ATI has drivers in the making for the new 64bit proc that are coming out, somewhere i read that nvidia hasn't even brought that into consideration yet :?: there's something to think about

It will eventually come down to: People who use the Opteron will get ATI, people who use Linux will get NVIDIA. People who use anything else... well, screw them, we don't care in this scenario.
