wouldn't it be Update, afaik, any window with "ok" is on top as you'll have to clear it before continuing

Mmh, I didnt use MAC for a long time but I think the desktop has the focus (and none of the windows).

Look at the menu above... Then you see, which program has focus.

Should be the update program.

Wrong!

"About this mac" has focus.

Thank you apple for an inconsistent and confusing UI!

I think it is pretty simple :)

The software update is its own 'two' windows, while the About this Mac is ontop because it gives you the close/minimize/maximize options. You should remember which window you opened last :P The only other option is if the Window behind the Update windows is active and the Update window has "Always on-top" on.

the fact so many 'apple experts' got it wrong proves it's flawed. if it can confuse experienced users, then what are novices to think?

it's bad design, period.

I never said i'm a expert. I was just guessing. I guess you have to bother with a mac because of the mac part of ET 2.60 ?

Always thought that the active window has colored buttons in the menu/title bar. And if the windows loses focus they are greyed out.
