Why is my account not activated

Post by infrequent9 »

Can any admin tell me why my other account is not activated yet ?

It was registered May 08 and thus even before the one I'm using now.

Nothing is wrong with the email-address as I got the Welcome message ok.

Thanks in advance.

Good luck sorting through the spam on that email address now

I don't have a solution, but it may not be the greatest of ideas to post real emails in messages. I'm not sure if bots can crawl into threads, I'm sure they can.

mail.dk is a freemail provider, and freemail accounts are not allowed on the forums.

mail.dk is owned by tdconline, a danish isp. they do not offer free email accounts.

edit:

ok, i looked into it: they DO offer freemail, and even worse, it's not restricted to mail.dk
in fact, it includes:
privat.dk
direkte.org
events.dk
familie.tele.dk
firma.tele.dk
fritid.tele.dk
lite.dk
loveletters.dk
mail.tele.dk
ny-post.dk
nypost.dk
os.dk
paradis.dk
pc.dk
plakaten.dk
post.tele.dk
postkasse.com
postkasse.net
postkasse.org
privat.tele.dk
rudekuvert.dk
sport.dk
surfmail.dk
surfpost.dk
undermaatten.dk
webhiker.dk
besked.com
beskedboks.dk
business.tele.dk
c.dk
cafeer.dk
chicks.dk

problem is, you can't tell whether or not the owner of the account is paying the isp or not. since the same names are available to paying customers.

how many people on this forum does this affect?

https://registrering.tdconline.dk/eserv ... ?CDID=free

this is a pretty dumb policy for tdc to have, it only ensures they will get widely used for spamming and blocked.

the forum blocking here is not retroactive, it only affects anyone signing up for new accounts since around dec 2004.

fwiw, freemail accounts offered by tdc no longer has pop3 or imap access, it must be accessed by internet explorer with some ActiveX plugin.

oh and that second link made no sense at all ;)

mail.dk is definately not a freemail provider ! It's an address from the largest internet and telephone company in Denmark called TDC. I pay for their services and also for the email-address and their SPAM-filtering etc. As far as I know you can NOT create a mail.dk account without having a subscription with TDC.

EDIT: Ok, maybe they do. But I'm one of the paying costumers.

BTW.... this account is registered on "post.tele.dk" which is just another email-address at the same provider.

I've used the mentioned account for years and have it registered at about 20-25 Forums. This is the first place I've had trouble with it.

That's no problem. It's all filtered out by my ISP ;-)

you do realize you just gave him another address to add to the ban list (won't affect you but won't let anyone else from there register)
