Nah, they'll just make a Tribes mod for it.

No game publisher is professional enough to put end version of the game on the market. Its cheaper to put beta, hype it and then make a patch that fixes nothing in a weak or two after the game comes out. Just look at rtcw, et, q4 and titan quest (my latest disapointment), civ4 blabla blabla...

My point is any game id makes needs serious modding.

I guess you missed the fact the game is going to be over half a year delayed due to id + activison thinking it needs more work to be done as they didn't want to release a buggy piece of crap?

It isn't a matter of who made it. No matter how good your testing is, players will continue to discover unexpected things in gameplay. This isn't a lack of professionalism, it's a simple fact.

One of the id folks brought this up in one of the recent qcon interviews. I wish I could dig up the exact quote, but the gist was that there will always be a place for "competition" mods like OSP/CPMA/ETPro, because players will always be finding interesting things that affect gameplay.

I would still like to read that interview if you can find it, ReyalP ;)

Anyway, after reading this http://community.enemyterritory.com/index.php?q=node/23 i think its clear that et:qw will not be competittion oriented at all, just like et wasn't when it was released. So will etpro team mod this game too?

Indeed, not much point in speculating until the game is in hand. If past games are anything to go by, the gamecode won't be available right away anyway.

I for one would also like to see a ETQW-Pro mod made for this game.

ET Pro was a fantastic addition to the community and I'm sure the staff could do an equally amazing job at creating a competitive mod for ET:QW.
