screenshake

Post by AviV »

maybe a stupid question, but i wanna know if i could do someting about the shaking of the screen when you're in a firefight and you were hit. of course the best answer is not to get hit :p
i've checked some config's and also in my own config i;ve:
seta sv_screenshake"0"
but i can't see any difference, is there more you can do on it??
tnx

AFAIK the screen shaking is just a nice graphical effect but the screen is always reset when u fire another round (that means u should NOT compensate the shake on ur own, the game does it every time another round leaves the barrel of ur gun).

commands starting with "sv_" are server side and will have no effect on your client.

Isn't that the purpose? That server settings should dictate the settings of the client?

I constructed my statement poorly. They effect your client but what I'm getting at is a client cannot change these settings for themselves. They have to be set server side.

From what I remember sv_screenshake doesn't do what you expect anyway, even when changed on the server. A while back I did a modest dig through the view shake when hit code (in response to someone who claimed it affects your actual aim point), and didn't find any cvars that influence it in any way.

edit:
and FWIW, it does not affect your actual aim point.

This is yet another indication of the spam that someone was complaining about in another thread...gg.

From what i remember, the 'shaking' is actually much more prominent in RTCW.
