Major fps drop:S

Post by maarten144 »

Hi lads lately im having major fps drop problems and i cant seem to find the problem. Here's what happened. I downloaded ragner-x-s config and with his help i adjusted it. Then i found out it was too sucky and i made some mistakes. But thing was i had done seta in the autoexec so my etconfig was also set. So i thought to myself lets be a smart guy and reinstall ET. I reinstalled it and it didnt play properly so i made a very small autoexec.cfg with a couple of cvars in it so i set picmip to 2 lodbias to 3, amtosphericeffects 0 shadow 0 dynamiclight 0 r_mode is 4. Everything was fine at my own server (that lw thingy with etpro 3.1.0) but today i went to AWA and Astra server and on normal maps like oasis and fueldump i had an fps of 9!!!!!!!!!!! Has someone got any ideas for me? cause im so confused :'(

If you delete the etconfig.cfg in your profile directory, everything should go back to default. In the future, always make a backup before you start changing things. Also, it is smart to load all of your settings from a config file instead of counting on etconfig.cfg. That way, you akways know what all of your settings are and you can easily change them. This is a much better method than changing settings with the GUI and/or the console. At this point, all you can do is play with your settings until you get to the performance you want.

With the 2 servers, are they both etpro? If they are different mods then they are probably loading different configs. Look for the appropriate etconfig.cfg in the profiles folder of that particular mod.

but the thing is im not having those fps drop on etpro 3.1.0 on our own server afaik only on etpub, havent tried etpro 3.2. Also i made a config file but i typed in seta everywhere, so it overwrites the etconfig. but yeah i should have made a backup but i thought that it wasnt gonna be overrunning, so there was no need to backup something that i was not gonne mess with :P
