Request: Colorless fireteamoverlay

Post by DeadBull »

In RtCW the teamoverlay is a usefull part of the hud because of its simplicity, it displays all the necesery info and nothing more. However in ET the fireteamoverlay has become more complex and it has become more difficult to read all the data from it on a fast way.
The colors in the fireteamoverlay have a great impact negative on its use.

A better fireteamoverlay should:
- Strip all colors from the player names and locations.
- Mark dead/wounded players with a complete red or yellow line.
- have the the header removed: "fireteam alpha".
- be decreased in width.

Thanks in advance !

FWIW, there are already options for the location width

If you want to go all out on huds, just make custom huds using CSS (as in cascading style sheets, not counterstrike <_<). That'd be awesome.

I like the colours in the names, and would not want a 'crosshairhealth' style fireteam name display...

squadjot: you need a little 16 pixel square face in the middle of that :alliedfieldops:

I do agree it would be nice if the fireteam hud could be (optionally of course) condensed a bit.

Just copy the bloody HUD code from etpub.
Our servers now run on 64 bit steroids. Point your ET to:
- Forgotten Ground StopWatch Server with occasional wolfrof 1
- Fraggle Rock ETPub Server - Mix up ET/UT & Duke Nukem

Whatever happens, I hope from now on when a new feature is added, you also provide an "opt-out" option. For example this stuff...

bind x vsay cheer ^1roflcopt0rz! ^2j00 ^3got ^4pwnt!!!111111

...is almost as annoying as LilleBror. It would have been nice if I were given the option to not see those "custom vsays."

I'm pretty sure someone mentioned an "ignore loser" setting in etpro

I'm not sure if you're being sincere or sarcastic. I'm talking about allowing players to disable the custom text accompanying vsays, while still seeing/hearing the vsays normally. Why this was simply added with no thought to whether or not everyone would want to see it is beyond me.

All additions should include an opt-out option. When you add a trivial/optional/unessential feature which allows PlayerX to do something that affects PlayerY, you should allow PlayerY to say "no thanks."

Ignoring PlayerX is not the answer.

I have to agree, it might have been better if b_customVoiceChat had been a client side option rather then a server side.

Although i also allow it on my own server. (pressure for the powers that be my members lololol, but they do come up with some witty ones now and then, but as for that leet crap, i'll say no more)

I'll have to agree, the custom chat stuff is very annoying, was fun the first couple of times, but not anymore, all the servers I play on have it disabled and I appreciate that courtesy, would be nice to be able to turn it off client side though
