Ive created an own pk3 file and named the directorys the same as in pak01 and in there i put a waw file named the same as in pak01. and when i start the game in a local server its just quiet when i test the sound i added. i would love some help, if its to complicated plz mail me at oskar.palsson@ipbolaget.com thx :D

well the ez way (not a verry perfect way) is to overwhite the old sounds

in that case you should name your pak to pak2.pk3

also make sure that the filenames and disrectory scructure siside the .pk3 si the same as in pak1.pk3

try adding a letter in front of the pk3

example: sound.pk3 is your file... try adding an s.. thus making it

s_sound.pk3

this is how I got the sound pk3 to overide the default one

If it's just quiet you could try increasing the volume.

Did you set the .wavs to the correct frequency and bitrate?
Got any old idtech3 tutorials you made or saved? Send them my way.

In programs like "Sound Recorder" that comes with Windows, under File -> Properties -> Convert Now, you can change the quality of the wav. For ET I believe it has to be 22Khz and I think it is 16 bit mono, though I could be wrong. If you load one of the origional sound files, you should be able to tell.

Most sounds are 16bit/22.05kHz/mono, but there are a few 16bit/44.1kHz/mono ones.
