Simple start-up script

Well ,the server is about done so I need a start up script to start and stop the server....Would be nice if the server restarts after a crash.
I used to just use the scripts from http://tjw.org/etded/ but since I installed the server the 'normal' way and run it as a normal user I can't use those anymore. I guess it's fairly simple stuff to edit if you know what you are doing but I have no scripting skills at all I'm afraid.
Any help would be great.
