Re: ETTV Public beta 2
would be nice if someone briefly explained how to setup a slave chain ...bani wrote: experimental support for slave chaining
I believe you have to set a password on the first slave the same way the master would be set up, and then connect the second slave to the first the same way the first is set up to the master.
Got any old idtech3 tutorials you made or saved? Send them my way.
When I tested (very briefly) it seemed like a person connected to the chained slave could only freecam, not follow. I pretty much only tried clicking the mouse, so there may be another way to get it work.
(testing a complex ettv setup with only a few people and systems is rather annoying :/)

ReyalP: Help me get iptables configured correctly and I'll set up an ettv server for tesing. :X

Is there any better documentation for ET TV ?
Why is there no basic windows command line info ?
It looks like theres no windows et tv server docs anywhere ?
http://ettv.anime.net/documentation.html
Copy ettv.x86 to the same directory your etded.x86 is located.
Start your gameserver as normal, but run ettv.x86 instead of etded.x86.
In windows I don't have an etded.x86
Why isn't there a simple starting command line for ettv.exe in the docs ?
I just need to run ettv fix so I can use the bug fix to run an et server I really dont need ettv but I just don't get the documentation.

I just need to run ettv fix so I can use the bug fix to run an et server I really dont need ettv but I just don't get the documentation.
Here's my command line:
ettv.exe +set net_ip 206.120.65.121 +set net_port 27960 +set com_hunkmegs 64 +set dedicated 2 +set sv_punkbuster +set fs_game etpro +exec server.cfg
replacing ettv.exe where et.exe would be. I put ettv.exe in the same folder with et.exe, not in etmain or etpro folder.
The files ettv.exe and the 3 other files included in the zip were in the same folder as ettv.exe.
The server launches then quickly exits. When I look at the server.log I don't see any error messages other than "Shutdown" game when it crashes right after starting.
If I run et.exe in the above command line it launches fine. So for me running ettv.exe in the place of et.exe does not work.
Are other people running it this way without issue on window servers ?

+set sv_punkbuster ...to what? You need a value :)knuckles wrote:Here's my command line:

I don't know if that's the problem though -- Try it.

working with reyal we found it to be a problem with the exe not wanting to run on Win 2003 servers.
when you launch ettv.exe just by clicking on it (no command line, just the exe alone) on Win 2003 servers it opens then closes right away.
Same problem I had before.
If I do the same thing on my XP machine, just click the ettv.exe the window will open, it stays open so I can type in the console to load a map.
This is not possible on Win 2003 servers. No one else has seen this problem ?

I'm a bit stuck for the slots calculation for server settings.
If I want to have a server for 12 players, 4 ETTV slots and 2 private slots for refs/specs/whatever, what is the correct math? This:
Or this:
I haven't got enough ETTV slaves ATM to do the trial and error way of working so that's why I ask here.
If I want to have a server for 12 players, 4 ETTV slots and 2 private slots for refs/specs/whatever, what is the correct math? This:
Code: Select all
set ettv_sv_maxslaves 4
set sv_privateclients 2
set sv_maxclients 18 (= 12 + 4 + 2)
Code: Select all
set ettv_sv_maxslaves 4
set sv_privateclients 2
set sv_maxclients 14 (= 12 + 2; ETTV slots are there but hidden)
