exploitable command: configstrings

Post by KillerWhale »

I don't play Etpro much, but have been wondering for a while why the "configstrings" command isn't cheat protected or removed yet? Etpro, being a compition mod, I don't think is usefull to have this exploitable debugging command still around.

I won't go into detail how it's exploitable but those who know whats stored in configstrings will know how it's done.

Actually "exploiting" /configstrings is not practical (at least the slight means of possible advantage I can think of), and the data stored in the configstrings is relatively easy to extract from a demo that's currently being recorded with an external program.
Additionally, /configstrings is an engine command; it's not trivial for a mod to make it cheat-protected.
