FWIW, servers should be able to update and work with the latest etpro (I only tested it very briefly, so there may be something I missed). If clients update, they will be kicked by etpro for integrity, regardless of which server version they connect to.

Updating servers is probably a good idea, since the directory traversal thing can have quite nasty consequences. The remapshader thing requires malicious serveradmins, which are a problem even without that exploit.

If you are using ETTV as your server executable, you may want to turn off sv_allowdownload. The patch readme suggests you can use www redirects with this off, but I'm pretty sure it disables both.

You are correct....
But is the server still vulnerable with sv_allowdownload 1 and www redirects?

I would assume so, since clients who disable web downloads fall back to UDP.

Hi,

are there any plans to release a new etpro for et-2.60b?
I ask because at least all gentoo-linux gamers are screwed now when they wanna play etpro as gentoo removed all et-versions prior to 2.60b from their package-repository.

Cheers

Of course I'll be patient. I didn't wanna put any pressure on this. I just wanted to know if there is some update in work.
So thanks for your answer :)

is that "package" something like an rpm?

You can also install et the "ordinary" way or just copy over installations ...

Hello,

no, gentoo is a source based distribution which means normally every single package has to be compiled on the target machine (as long as the package is provided with sourcecode which can be compiled). Gentoo is using so called "ebuilds" for this which are some kind of bash-scripts that download, unpack, compile and install these packages. It's the same with et and etpro except for the compile-part which is not necessary for binary packages ;)

Of course I could rewrite the 2.60 ebuild or even install the old package without the use of gentoo's package-manager but I doubt many gentoo users would do any of these steps. And I for myself will wait (patiently of course ;)) with playing until the new etpro is out.

Cheers

It will be a few days until I get around to updating the required stuff. In the mean time, server adminstrators can use b_anticheat 0.

Nah, then I'd rather stick with good old buggy 2.60 ;-). Besides, I'm waiting for ettv.x86.
Our servers now run on 64 bit steroids. Point your ET to:
- Forgotten Ground StopWatch Server with occasional wolfrof 1
- Fraggle Rock ETPub Server - Mix up ET/UT & Duke Nukem

Or you could just get the old et.x86 and run that when you want to play etpro.
