it takes me about 30sec to 1 min to load
here's my specs
667celeron
512MB Ram
Intel 80810 shared videoram
30GB 7200RPM HD
Currently running Win ME... but loading XP as soon as i get my disks to run right
oh and btw hp/compaq is just under dell in quality, gateway is crappiest comp in world... but building your own is cheapest/best to do, going to a company to have them build it for you is more expensive but still usually better than most major companies.
btw try running MSCONFIG and removing everything out of startup... if you use hp's standard software (eg factory install of ME) you have a lot of software and such running in background, allong with the software ME has itself

I'd say zero crashes is a reason to go for WinXP. Oh, Alex, do you come from a poor family? Guess what, I'm fifteen and have two thousand dollars. So obviously, either you're poor or you must spend all the money you get on things you don't need. There's a nice little thing called money management that you may want to read into.
