the etpro channel is on freenode, we decided against enter the game, gamesure, and quakenet to settle on freenode. most of the ettv talk is going to be in #etpro, by the way...

the official etpro channel is on freenode, it's #etpro. #ettv isn't an official channel, and most of the etpro talk happens in #etpro. we've got about 30 people in it now, including bani, rain, fretn, and ikkyo (all people who have been working on the mod)

Here's why we decided on freenode - enter the game was just terrible (i was getting flooded with shit saying i was an open trojan, no thx), gamesurge had too many disconnects, some asshats on quakenet already registered the channel and made it +m, freenode was left and it's been fine the whole time. We've been there for months now, if people don't want to spend the extra minute connecting to another network, that's their problem, not ours.

heh, there is nothing wrong with freenode. as a change, freenode is professionally ran, and does not have the large administrative staff as most irc networks, thus making it much more stable and reliable.

don't diss it before you try it, you may like what you see.

the preference in networks should be irrelivant. where are all of the team channels for ET? GameSurge for NA and QuakeNet for Europe (if gamesurge had a euro server, i'm sure they'd hop over) if it were up to me, i'd have a channel for both GameSurge and QuakeNet. personally, i dont want to chew up more of my bandwith to connect to a second irc network to find out who's getting wtv'd that night (used to gtv, wolftv, and wtv is shorter :p ) remember, ETTV is for the players, so cater to them, not your own personal preference in networks.

#ettv secured on quakenet

Post by Smegma »

I have #ettv secured on QuakeNet. L parted since the prior owner didn't show up for the designated amount of time, and I've registered it now. Consider it in good hands - I already have #gtv, and had #osp (before turning it over to rhea).

I understand that dev talk will be (and belongs) on freenode, but for event coverage and such, QuakeNet is definitely the right place, in terms of reaching the masses.
