the problem isn't with yahoo's users. it's with their policy of flat-out lying.

Well I have two Yahoo account's.

One I use for porn and one I don't :)

The one that I used to sign up for TWL under a different handle get's 50 spam E-mail's a day. I haven't joined anything but TWL.

I know it's not TWL since I used my ISP E-mail for my Original name and have not gotten one spam e-mail. So the only other thing left in the equasion is Yahoo selling my E-mail..

yes, it's well known that yahoo sells email addresses to spammers.

i've even tested this by signing up with completely random usernames like nQx_9vprdslk@yahoo.com and started getting spam almost immediately.

I would too ... but I ment him joining a pron site! :p Of coarse if you join some such site or anyplace where your email addy can be grabbed then you should expect to get spammed.

I have 2 emails from yahoo that I don't use for anything and they don't get mail, spam or otherwise. Plus, if you use the webmail you can set it to filter junk mail. That lawsuit and other actions it is joining with MS and AOL are also interesting. However, I would not put it past a corporation to do such things to keep up appearances.

BTW: Why did I get the reply notification for this thread in my old Yahoo account instead of the new account I put in my profile (which I did receive a reply notification in another thread before this)?

Here in Germany even the account activation e-mail (after you registered to the forum) is considered as spam by some courts. So watch out Bani ;)

if you request the info it is not spam and cannot be charged as such, when you register you agree that the registration info will be sent to the e-mail, so they've got an out :D

I just said how it is, not that I agree with it (and what, when I take your e-mail and register it to 1000 forums?).

Better that you know some schmuck is abusing your email address than to be in the dark.

I have been on the Internet for a long time.
And in that time my primary ISP account had been used for most things I do.
In all those years I built up quite a collection of junk mail.
Until a few days ago I averaged 387 messages a day which were SPAM to about 5 messages average a day which were not.
I never signed up for a single list or newsletter.
Only what would be deemed normal.
Normal forums, normal online shops.
I have done everything I can.
SPAM filters turned out to be unreliable for me.

Alas a few days ago I was forced to leave my beloved home.
I had to give up the email adres because I was spending to much time throwing away SPAM.
It is like being run out of your house.
People who repeatedly SPAM, should be put to a wall and SHOT!
And I do not mean with virtual bullets.
They should realy be KILLED!.
Burried... Dug back up a few days later... And SHOT again!
Repeating this process for every SPAM mail they ever sent.
And then SHOT again!

I happen to appreciate a long term relationship with my email address and I do not appreciate others abusing it like they did!

Same thing from hotmail. I just signed up there....and after the registration process you login and expect to find a welcome to hotmail email right? Not this time...a penis enlargement and a porn ad...all within seconds of signing up. I have averaged about 10 emails a day in hotmail...not one is somebody I know....all spam.

There are security settings in hotmail that allow you to only recieve from those you wish to, unless of course you are wishing to recieve ads for penis enlargement.
