Concepts cannot be copyrighted/patented.
nuff said. Ya had me for a while though.
If concepts and ideas COULD be copyrighted/patented, we would only have 1 kind of asprin. 1 kind of soda. 1 kind of car, etc etc.

if things are patented it doesnt mean you cna only have 1 since other pl can stil make 1 but it gonig to cost em alot

Patents
Yes.. If something is patented you cant reproduce it without concent from the patent/copyright holder. However, that cannot stop you from making the same "type" of thing. that "type" of thing cannot be patented. However, theres some sort of grey area appearing as far as software is concerned (look and feel of software(games and such)) but Im not up to date on that.
Theres a million ways to make 1 "type of thing".
little factoid: Did you know the 3 point seatbelt (the one most cars have today) is patented by Volkswagen? However, even though its patented they allow whoever wants to use it, the right to. pretty cool of them.
