imo only people with a 24/7 server with 10+ slots should vote

but this is pretty useless anyways as you could make a quick scan on the version variable

--> I got a script to scan servers but i cant be bothered coz windows servers are stupid anyways

filter for ASE:

Code: Select all

Modifiers\OS
Group: NUL

Modifiers\OS\Linux
Group: OSTYPE
1 if version != "*linux*" remove

Modifiers\OS\Win32
Group: OSTYPE
1 if version != "*win*" remove
results:
Linux: 2863
Win32: 634

From a players perspective, there isn't much difference between a server hosted on windows or linux. From an admins perspective, I'd prefer linux, but it isn't a huge deal.

N-Gage imo
Our servers now run on 64 bit steroids. Point your ET to:
- Forgotten Ground StopWatch Server with occasional wolfrof 1
- Fraggle Rock ETPub Server - Mix up ET/UT & Duke Nukem

Not very many ET servers are run on Win32 (especially non-etpro servers) because a bug in the download code makes http downloads very likely to crash the server.

linux. wouldnt even consider running under win32. too insecure, and it just cant pump packets out the interface fast enough.
