b_headshot?

Post by gooner »

Hello!
When me and my friends is playing headshot, they hear the hitsounds and i dont (etpro server). So has it something to do with my cvars?

seta b_headshot "0"
seta b_hitsounds "2"

And what does b_hitsounds "3" do?

Thx

b_headshot 0 is NOT headshotmode

hitsounds 3 ? nevar heard of that.
1 is normal, 2 is head only

b_headshot is serverside cvar, while the hitsound has to be set clientside

see documentation forum for further information about he b_headshot variations

ah go to hell with b return with g and cg !
Just another example how it is confusing..
BTW i thought it is clientside too but when I tried this on LAN strange things happened , from that time on my LAN there is never ETPro !
I found what b_headshot is too late..

if you have "listen server", you're playing on client and server too. then b_headshot is affecting clientside (simply written).

I find no confusion in it ... in fact I have headshot mode bound to a key so when we feel like fooling around I can easily set it.

It makes it easy to tell at a glance if the cvar belongs to "Client Game" cg_ or server "Game" g_ b_ on the other hand, tells you nothing.

No. It is changed on the server, which you happen to have direct access to. But you shouldn't run a listen server for actual gameplay. Run a dedicated server on the same box as your client if you have to.

How about b_xxx for client and b_sv_xxx for server side?

Better is b_cg or b_cl if you want it , but g and cg rules!!
why b_cg ? Well , it is just saving place in serverinfo ..

nah b_ is defidently better, that way if your playin on an etmain server, you won't be trying to put in a command that belongs to bani...less confusing imho

Agree with Seany but b_sv_ for server side would be nice. Now it's confusing from time to time.

My vote (not that it matters) goes to b_ for client and b_sv_ for server.
Our servers now run on 64 bit steroids. Point your ET to:
- Forgotten Ground StopWatch Server with occasional wolfrof 1
- Fraggle Rock ETPub Server - Mix up ET/UT & Duke Nukem

my vote is the other way... b_ for server b_cl for client, because then they don't need a massive .cfg change
