PB guids

Post by -W0kk3L- »

Is it possible to build an option in ETPro that makes it possible the request the PB guid by a player, instead of the ETPro guid?

The problem is that we want to be able to let players report cheaters to us, so we can ban them. We can't use the /guids (yet), cause it isn't final yet. And we can't use /players (or all the other commands) because they don't display the whole PB Guid.

Is it possible to add an option to ETPro, like /pbguids or something, which makes it possible for a normal player to request the PB guid of another player? (with or without the option to enable or disable this option).

That's why i'm requesting it for ETPro. Would solve a lot of problems, and help admins and players catching cheaters :)

I know, but users can't find that. Only admins can. That's why the request for a clientside command for requesting this ID. Just like /guids but for this GUID (PB-GUID) :)

Other games (e.g. halflife) also have this way of requesting an id clientside (here called STEAMID). It's practically the same as a GUID. This makes it easier for players to report cheaters, and takes the load off admin of searching for GUIDS in the, most of the time, huge logs.

Ever tried /pb_plist ?
It just gives you the last 8 digits but thats enough for an admin to find out the the whole pb guid through the server log.

I know, but that still doesn't take the work out of searching through the logs, and making it easy for players to report cheaters. We are running 6 ET servers (and a lot more servers for other games), so 'just' checking a log takes time. And that for many players.

Some background info:
We are running a system that makes it possible for regular players to report cheater with a demo. http://www.crew-nexus.net/cheatr . These demos are looked at by our rconners/refs/admins, and they are, if cheating, banned from all our servers. If users can add the GUID by their own, it makes the work of processing those requests a lot easier...

Edit: By the way, i posted this topic by accident in the Banimod feature request board. Maybe someone can move it to: http://bani.anime.net/banimod/forums/viewforum.php?f=9 ? :) Sorry for that.

Can someone please move this topic to the ETPro board, so it at least will be looked at. I've got the feeling there is no progress at all in the /guids command.
