The short memory of apple fanatics

Post by bani »

So bani is having a nice conversation with apple fanatic #32,191,806.

<fanatic> HAHAHA WINDOWS IS SO CRASHY OSX RULEZ YUO LOLZ

How quickly apple fanatics like to forget the 15+ years of incredible crashiness of macs. It is only very recently that OSX has become stable enough to be usable (10.2 or so). In other words, OSX stability is an extremely recent phenomenon. Apple has not been a long term bastion of perfect OS stability.

From system/finder 1.0 all the way to OSX 10.1, macs were more well known for the crashiness than anything else.

What does mr. fanatic respond with?

<fanatic> OH YA LIKE WINDOWZ 95 IS SO STABLE LOL APPLE RULEZ LOLZ

Hmm. Windows 95 you say? Let's look at the equivalent apple product in 1995...

... System/Finder 7.5

"pot, kettle, black" sez bani.

lol, i love when people hold up win95 as an example of why m$ sucks. it's usually linux buffs. i appreciate linux also, but the fact is, the windows nt5.x has always been rock solid for me.

it really is time for windows haters to get over it. hate their business practices if you must, but it's time to acknowledge that the os has really come a long way, stability-wise.

as for security, meh. i'd be willing to bet the most stolen car in the world is also one of the top sellers. it just goes with the territory.

There are 32 million Mac Fanatics???

Anyway, OS X might be stable but now it sucks as a Server OS ;).

Linux for-the-win 8).
Our servers now run on 64 bit steroids. Point your ET to:
- Forgotten Ground StopWatch Server with occasional wolfrof 1
- Fraggle Rock ETPub Server - Mix up ET/UT & Duke Nukem

There is a simple way to stop your mac from crashing. Demonstrated here with an antique powerbook:
Step 1
Step 2
send lawyers, guns and money
