i guess i can live with the artificially high pings, although i wonder if some of our opponants may complain :(

what would you advise (you knowing much more than I) - Keep B8 and live with it, or downgrade to B7. Where there any major performance gains from B7-B8 that would mean its unadvisable to downgrade?

I've looked through the B7/B8 release threads and other than the flood B7 looks ok.

Thanks :)

Either use b4 or b9 for the master server. b4 still has the original netcode AFAIK so it's like etded & b9 is the most improved but sometimes people still complain about lag, yet fail to submit demos to bani.
Our servers now run on 64 bit steroids. Point your ET to:
- Forgotten Ground StopWatch Server with occasional wolfrof 1
- Fraggle Rock ETPub Server - Mix up ET/UT & Duke Nukem

heh, i can imagine thats annoying ^^

If we get problems i'll do my best to record tv_84's and dm_84's at the same time to help.

Let me just check i'm getting this right before i act on it though: You recommend:

1) ettv.x86 (B4/9) for the master server
2) ettv.x86 (B8/9) for the slave

on windows server

gameserver: ettv b4
ettv server (recorder & broadcaster): ettv b7

is the best choice.

Correct for 1, but:

2) ettv.x86 (B7/9) for the slave

b8 is simply too bugged, stay away from it.

ok :)

Both running as suggested! We've got a bit of an issue with lag on the master server, but i'll play around a bit before accusing ettv.x86 of being the culprit! (And provide demo's if i reckon it is).

Hopefully this will all work just fine, and I can add this server to the gamesTV list for matches :)

possibly because it takes quite a lot of time/effort that "they" don't have at the moment :wink:

B10 would be good though, you are right.

- lack of demo's from community?
- lost interest of developpers?

jump3r, the "et.sk ettv broadcaster", powered by win2k.

heh another problem :x :x

Now the ETTV server lags out / crashes after every round start or map change :(

master = b4
slave = b7

edit: sorry wrote that while quite tired last night. Moving from B8/B8 to B4/B7 seems to have introduced this new bug - ie the ETTV server lags out on every map start or map load. It sits there loading and loading the master map again and again until you ssh kill the server and start again. Then it'll join the master and sit there quite happily until the dreaded map change again.

I think this is a recognised bug but is there a fix or will i have to change to another release?

Thanks :)

edit2: A search of the forums revealed one fix (the one and only fix tbh) and that was "too many pk3's". I've tried deleting a bunch but the bug's still here :(

Any other advice? Thanks :)
