Took an extended test drive today in a 4 door GTI. The sport seats are a little too hard and hurt my lower back. No amount of lumbar adjustement or anything else made it any better.

not interested in spending >$30k on a car. which rules out audis too (and mercs, so dont go there either 8) ).

I guess it depends on location as well, Canda's winters require things like heated seats and good defrost systems as well as air conditioning for summer, Mazdas seem to have a good rep around here, but I've no experience with anything other than the Miata, me, I'm a Volvo type

iirc the #1 best selling make in canada is subaru, because they all have AWD.

but traction control can compensate for many ills, even FWD. the GTI has a very good TC.

actually, Honda Civic has been the top selling car here, something like 8 yrs running, mind you, they build them here
