Nvidia Linux question...

Post by Lukey »

Anybody have horrible lag with the latest Nvidia drivers on Linux? I'm using the 7174 driver released on Mar. 31. I normally can crank out some wicked fps under windows...have a amd64 3500+ and a geforce 6200. When I run it on Linux I usually have my fps cap at like 30fps and it is really choppy gameplay. :o

Has anybody else had this problem and know how to fix it? I'm running slackware 10.1 with the 2.6.11.7 kernel. The 7174 driver will compile and install, but if I try to downgrade to like 6629 it says it can't compile the kernel module. My com_maxfps is set to somewhere around 90, so it shouldn't be a ET setting...the same config performs great under 'doze. :|

Well I disabled agp fast writes in the bios and it is playable now, but nowhere near the fps I got even with it enabled under windows or the older drivers. :|

Any ideas?

I have the same driver, but without the extra mega high end card. About the same with windows, I just dont use FSAA or anisotropic whatever it is .
tops out around 180 or 190 uncapped.
