etcdkey...

I know this topic has probably been brought up a zillion times... but like you, I am intrinsically lazy and cannot really be bothered searching... but everytime I join a server I get booted with it telling me that my guidauthor is not reaching it... So I do the usual delete cdkey in etmain and problem is solved... but this happens everytime I disconnect and join another one... i get the same message and do the same thing of deleting it...

Is there an easier solution for a n00b like me?

Thanx in advance...

This is the permanent solution most of our guys have used to fix their problem. I had the same problem and haven't had it since I followed these directions. I did not write this, so it is formatted for 'anyone' to understand, just an fyi before you get pissed at me for telling you what the console is in the first line hehe. This is strictly a copy/paste of the post made by Hellboy on my forums. Hope it helps.

1. Check if you have a Punk Buster ID (Also Know CDKey GUID)
In your ET Consol (Use ~ to open Console) type in “/pb_myguid” with-out the quotes.

If you have a Key, it should show something likes this.

If you don’t have a Key, it should show something likes this.
Image

A. If it shows that you have a Key, and you are getting an error is because it maybe corrupted. See Step 4
B. If it doesn’t show a Key, that’s the reason you a getting the CDKey error. See Step 3

2. Make sure you have Punk Buster is Enable,
In your ET Consol (Use ~ to open Console) type in “/pb_cl_enable” with-out the quotes. Then Restart ET.

Step 3.
1. If you don’t have a Key, you must create one.
A. In your ET Consol (Use ~ to open Console)
B. Type in “/cl_punkbuster 1” with-out the quotes, Then Enter>
C. Now Type in “/pb_cdkeyreg” with-out the quotes, Then Enter>
It should look something like this:

Step 4.
1. Open your Enemy Territory Folder>
2. Then open your “etmain” Folder>
3. Look for a file name “etkey” Please Note: it doesn’t have an extension.
4. Delete the file “etkey”
5. After you have deleted your ETKEY, you must create a new one.
A. In your ET Consol (Use ~ to open Console)
B. Type in “/cl_punkbuster 1” with-out the quotes, Then Enter>
C. Now Type in “/pb_cdkeyreg” with-out the quotes, Then Enter>

It should look something like this:

That doesn't have anything to do with the "cd key not reaching GUID auth server" H8reD.

indeed. this belongs to the "empty cd key not allowed on this server" kicks

You solve the problem the exact same way.

Sorry but AFAIK, there is no solution for that problem yet. It might sometimes get you off waiting for 3 minutes, but it's by no means a reliable workaround.

You can grab my tool "ET Starter Pro", which enables you to delete the etkey file automatically on ET startup (plus a lot of other useful things ;)).

Maybe EvenBalance could try their hand at making software that works.

There is no 'solution'. There is a work around.
