Voting and Vote Percent

Post by gjrc »

hi,

i have voting set to:

set vote_percent "60"

however often votes which achieve over this still fail on the server. is this becuase a lot of people are not voting at all?

if this is the case is there a way around it? so that if a vote does get over 60% it discounts all non voters and therefor does not fail.

thanks

if your server has 20 people on it, you'd need 12 to beable to pass... not voting is a vote no... no way arround it unless bani mods it so

The funny thing about the voting system is, that you can make votes pass by disconnecting. E.g. 2 players: one player starts a vote (i.e. votes yes) and disconnects. Result: the will votes pass.

abstentions are counted as a no vote.

it could be made an option to not count abstentions.

Abstentions should be counted as "Yes".

Our servers now run on 64 bit steroids. Point your ET to:
- Forgotten Ground StopWatch Server with occasional wolfrof 1
- Fraggle Rock ETPub Server - Mix up ET/UT & Duke Nukem

this would benefit comp mods too... for times when someone (for some reason doesn't vote), but a kick vote where only 3 people vote, and everyone abstains... the person would be kicked

I guess a simple cvar with 3 options would be enough. Abstentions count as:
  • no (default),
  • yes or
  • not at all.

imho it should either count as a no or abstention... imho it shouldn't be variably controlled, you should know something of what to expect when you join a server
