Problem whilst installing Server

Hi,

I am trying to install ET Server. First I had a serious of libraries missing, but now searching file after another I managed to get all the files, however there is still a problem :

root@mepaclan:/home/et/temp# ./et-linux-2.55.x86.run --keep
Creating directory setup.1947
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Enemy Territory 2.55...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
./setup.sh: line 143: 10346 Aborted "$setup" "$@" 2>>$NULL
The setup program seems to have failed on x86/glibc-2.1

Any idea which I can take to fix this problem please? I have the patches for et starting from 2.55 to 2.6b, but I didn't find 2.6b straight away. This is frustrating me, so any help will be extremly appreciated

Rule No. 1: Never ever install ET as root.

You might find all the files at ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/et/

/me as teh linux Ã¼bernoob would says to update or install glibc2.1 or higher if available.

How to update or install it you need to find someone with higher *nix-XP level then I have.

I installed ET more than once without root access and it works fine.
You might install it as root, but you should never run it as root.

which distro are you using on what type of machine?

installing 2.6 straight away helped me from the problem
