USDOJ indicts three individuals under Can-Spam act
According to a US Department of Justice press release, three individuals were indicted under the Can-Spam act. The charges include criminal conspiracy and money laundering. One of the defendants is also charged with violating federal record keeping provisions, most likely 18 U.S.C. 2257. The defendants face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted. A fourth man involved in the scheme already plead guilty in February 2005 and is scheduled to be sentenced in September 2005. Apparently, data collected by spamhaus assisted investigators.
