the prob = one comp wont tweak it unless the rest does it too, ..

so if banni would force it everybody would be happy ^^

Surely a competition will lock or tweak XP as they see fit. Server admins already tweak XP needed to get to x level for different classes, so why wouldn't competitions?

I wouldn't be happy if there was anXP setting imposed on my competition.

Worst reasoning ever eagle_be_.

I think the vote shows pretty clearly that there would be an audience for a no-XP league. Admins, are you listening? :)

So, then have the leagues make one.

It's not the way it is eagle_be.

Comps over where I am have already talked about implementing XP changes/have implemented XP changes...

Because of course RTCW had Covert Ops, Smoke, Disgiuses, Satchell Charges, Mortars, Mobile MG42s, Landmines, Constructibles etc.

Oh no, wait, it didn't!!

ET without XP is simply ET without XP. It is NOT RTCW. Lamest arguement ever for retaining XP in competiton. :twisted:

Covert Ops=spy
Smoke=scout
Disgiuses=spy
Mobile MG42s=engineer
Landmines=engineer
bani had all of that

i think retaining xp should stay but i don't think it will turn it into rtcw, but it takes away the heart of ET. IMHO

But Banimod was never played in competition. Competitive RTCW never had these things, competitive ET does. I wish people would stop using this lame argument and/or read the thread properly and understand we're talking about competitive gaming here, not pubs.

note that i didn't use that as my argument... i was just stating :lol:
I know we are talking about conpetition, i would want the xp in competition. I think primarily this decision should fall to the ladders indipendantly. the more favored ideal will win that way (noone will compete if they don't like the way it's organised.

Yeah I know, I wasn't having a dig Gotenks, it's just the guy I quoted, cyrus, joins this forum just to make the oft repeated but completely invalid claim that removing XP from ET magically turns it into RTCW. It doesn't.

The argument against XP is that in stopwatch competiton it favours defence. The problem with this is that stopwatch competition requires times to be set, so the game need to favour offense. Removing XP will go some way to making ET playable competitively.

in my experience xp is a distraction in comp games. I'd rather be shooting the enemy than spamming ammo packs for medics so I can level up and have even more ammo to spam to them :roll:

I love gaining XP in campaigns, it can be a lot of fun and in this context is is an important part of the game. But I think it is irrelevant in competitive SW matches as I feel it takes something away from the competitive element. :(

maybe one of the leagues can just setup a ladder with disabled skill levels, for those who want to play it that way. the vote shows it wont be going into etpro default though.

There's going to be a Euro tourney starting in Feb which will be using limited XP (fixed at certain levels for certain skills). It's being hosted by Jolt (UK No.1 gaming ISP) and run by Shakes (top Euro player with Amnesia). I'm going to be an Admin as well, so should be fun.

Hopefully we'll have lots of feedback as to the difference limited XP makes. ;)
