Post by Wraith »

Hi, any chance of requesting a return of goomba kills for et pro?

they were great!

i dont think anyone would object to goombas , and im sure it would bring some additional entertainment

Only if the person who jumps on you dies too, and it's greater than a 20 foot drop.
Got any old idtech3 tutorials you made or saved? Send them my way.

I think, seeing that ETPub now supports etpro mapscripts, and that release 0.6.1 of ETPub will have zinx's b_realhead code, you should consider running an ETPub server then.
Our servers now run on 64 bit steroids. Point your ET to:
- Forgotten Ground StopWatch Server with occasional wolfrof 1
- Fraggle Rock ETPub Server - Mix up ET/UT & Duke Nukem

True, those coders are doing a great job, but switching to etpub requires me to enable pb again for anti-cheat and cvar restrictions.

you do realize that there are few cheats etpro picks up that pb doesn't and there are alot of cheats that neither detect rightnow (i think there are several cheats pb gets that etpro doesn't right now...)

The latest overview I got from one of the better known cheat sites is that PB catches all public ones although a few private ones are still undetected and up for sale.

There are definitely cheats that don't get caught by ETPro's IAC right now.

@RKP: for cvar restrictions yes you'd have to switch to PB since sv_cvar does not exist in ETPub. However, sv_cvar-restrictions that have EQ in them can be mimicked with ETPub's forcecvar command which you can put in the default map config. The same way you turn off or on the grass in radar can be used to force r_znear to 3 for example.

If you want I'll send you our ETPub cfg, so you can see the interaction between PB & ETPub's forcecvar.

I do, that's why I spend too much of my time on cvar restrictions lately.. Atm it's the only way to semi-counter recent cheats and hope that they don't want to be bothered to change defaults...
(Btw, I got rid of pb because of the auth-failures and update madness.)

Yes, but also according to those sites, it's the best coded anti-cheat and the most complex to pass-by....

I saw that by browsing trough the etpub changelog...
And, yes please, maybe I can experiment a bit with it on our server @ a local lan this weekend.

So it's theoretically better, even though it catches less cheats :?

The problem is, once one person has figured out how to bypass it and share the code, it is no longer hard to bypass. PB has the advantage of automatic updates.

Unless you happened to fall on them, and kill them. :/
