to be consistent, the k43/garand should be balanced as well -- even if it isnt historically realistic.
either both 10 + no reload, or both 8 + both reload, imo. maybe make the first unscoped shot accurate tho? take several secs of not firing for the accuracy to come back.
regarding allowing reload but lose clip, i think most people at first would assume this a bug, plus a lot of us simply have a habit of tapping R without thinking when in safe areas. losing half a clip would be... irritating, to be diplomatic it wouldnt even be realistic, since a soldier could still keep the half full clip.

ET is not a realism game. If you want 'realism' go somewhere else.

I do not want ET Pro to change the gameplay. Balancing those two guns is NOT necessary, because both teams get to play on each side once. The argument, that just because SD decided to balance the SMG means that you also have to balance the rifles, makes no sense to me at all.

Not sure what to think of this. If this is indeed the case and the SD developers would encourage this change, then I couldn't say anything. However, it would still suck a bit to have different gameplay in "pure" ET as in ET Pro.
A change in an official patch would be no problem.
If it really _has_ to happen and both SD and the gamers agree with it, then I hope that the change will at least make both guns similar to one of the current guns, not both completely different ("Both 10 rounds/clip, both reload mid-clip" sounds somewhat reasonable).
Hopefully SD will fix it upsteam then, if they ever do another patch.

Balance
Hey why don't you make the uniforms the same color so no matter what the background or lighting, there will be no advantage (sorry for the sarcasm, but this is getting old) We should play the game as it was intended weapons spawn times etc. Things that need to be fixed are map exploits, mines dissapearing during plant etc. War is not fair weapons are not exactly even. What makes a win is teamwork, stratagy and skill level (not refering to xp skill levels).
Every other day in TWL there is a new mod, config, rule, timelimit. Me as a server admin am personally sick of having to check the site everyday and try to interpet the news and then apply it to the server.
