Pause demo

Is there a way to stop/pause demo and get freecam footage, like timedemo 1 | 0 do it ? timedemo is bad :< becouse it lasts for very little time. And timescale 0 dont work :< . Can anyone help me?

timescale 0.00000000001 ?
The cl_freezedemo cvar exists, but it's buggy. After you "unpause", it skips to the future, because only your screen is frozen. The demo playback is still happening meanwhile.
I think if you combine a VERY LOW timescale with cl_freezedemo it might work best. But I'm not sure.
Rain tried to fix this cvar, not sure if he managed to do it.

timescale 0.00000000001 or timescale 0.1 ...is no difference afaik
