make changing cl_maxpackets in game slower or impossible?

I have seen "lag scripts" that have been used in matches, that use changes in cl_maxpackets to induce some type of lag, or warping?

Is it possible to turn off the ability to readily change ones maxpackets?

Just playing the last few rounds of competitive ET has really opened my eyes a bit. There are a lot of people out there who will use whatever skilless hacks they can get away with.

If you set sv_cvar cl_maxpackets EQ to some sort of value that is achieved.

If you set it IN certain ranges people can still change it. Dunno how these lag scripts work though. I just usually put a knot in my cable to generate lag.

It can be made to be like rate, but antiwarp should take out most of the warping..
If it's not, we need to know.

oh he's mega helpfull (he was on call when i started developing etpower mod) i just never new he was an etpro developer

From some brief testing, I wasn't able to see any effect from rapidly changing cl_maxpackets. It certainly didn't cause the player to lag or warp on the screen.
